PURPOSE: To assist in managing all San Francisco Opera subscription marketing (renewal and acquisition) campaigns, customer care and retention and new audience development and outreach efforts.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in marketing, public relations, sales or arts

  • Knowledge of marketing principles including direct marketing, e-marketing; writing and copy-editing

  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully

  • Ability to analyze and manage program effectiveness

  • Strong project management experience

  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills

  • Proficiency in HTML; Wordfly or similar email platform

  • Familiarity with CRM programs, Tessitura preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator

  • Familiarity with operatic repertoire and artists (preferred)

  • Experience with print production and pre-press processes

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and exercise good judgment and initiative

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with artists, staff, the public and volunteers in an effective, professional, confidential and tactful manner

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style or Associated Press Style guides

  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Digital Marketing Initiatives

  • Creates and maintains subscription campaign email marketing schedule in accordance with the department’s marketing strategies and initiatives

  • Writes email draft copy for strategic subscription sales emails as assigned for supervisors’ review and approval

  • Creates email content in Wordfly and traffics emails for editing and proofing

  • Proposes segmentation and targeting strategies for new and returning subscription patrons in coordination with Marketing Manager, Subscriptions and Marketing Analyst

  • Generates targeted email lists from Tessitura and deploys emails as directed by supervisors

  • Tracks and reports on email open rates and efficacy

  • Monitors and updates website in regards to subscription content and promotions

  • Tracks and reports on website traffic; makes proposals to increase traffic and online sales

     

  • Subscriber Retention Initiatives

  • Plans, organizes and manages all subscriber events with the assistance of the Marketing Coordinator, Subscriptions

  • Organizes and manages Subscriber Representative Program, including coordinating all initiatives with the Box Office

  • Tracks and reports on the efficacy of the Subscriber Representative Program

  • Creates, organizes and runs new Bus Program for subscribers and single ticket holders in South, East and North Bays

     

  • Direct Mail Initiatives

  • Manages creation of printed collateral including Renewal/Acquisition Postcards, Renewal Inserts, Out of Town Brochure and Subscriber Guide

  • Builds and extract lists from Tessitura for subscription mailings

  • Writes marketing collateral draft copy as assigned for supervisors’ review and approval

     

  • Supervisor Responsibility

  • Trains and manages on a day-to-day basis Marketing Coordinator, Subscriptions

     

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports Subscriptions Manager in projects as assigned

  • Performs other job-related special projects and duties as assigned
