ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Opera Saratoga, formerly Lake George Opera, began with a production of Die Fledermaus at the Diamond Point Theatre on July 5, 1962, playing to an audience of 230. The Company now calls Saratoga Springs, New York home and performs for more than 25,000 people annually during the Summer Festival, as well as through community engagement programs year-round. The 2017 Summer Festival, under the leadership of Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson, will feature 3 different productions: FalstaffZémire et Azor (Beauty and the Beast), and The Cradle Will Rock; as well as a wide variety of concerts at diverse venues unique to the region.

INTERNSHIPS: In Residence May 28th - July 20th, 2017

Opera Saratoga Summer Festival's professional internship program offers intense, hands on educational opportunities for students seeking an introduction to careers in professional theatre. Our goal is to provide interns with practical experience in both shop environment and backstagealong with valuable networking opportunities.

Internships are available in the following areas: Stage Management; Costumes; Scenery; Electrics; Props; Sound; and Wigs/ Make-up. Please note, while interns are assigned to specific departments and mentors, they are also expected to work outside their chosen area of interest as need. We hope to provide each intern with a well-rounded experience designed to expand his or her knowledge of opera production and technical theater in general.

Opera Saratoga is committed to making our professional internship program a positive and educational experience for all of our interns.  Along with the opportunity to work along side and network with theatre professionals, they will also have the opportunity to participate in resume and portfolio reviews,  as well as master classes conducted by professional designer and technicians.

While internships are unpaid, housing is provided at no cost

Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, resume and three references to Steve Grair at sgrair@operasaratoga.org
