Artist Teacher/Stage Director

 

POSITION:   Positions for Artist Teacher/Stage Director, Department of Vocal Performance

QUALIFICATIONS:   Doctorate degree required.  However, candidates with exceptional professional and/or academic credentials will also be considered. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsibilities may include stage directing all department productions, recruiting voice majors and principals, teaching undergraduate and graduate opera curriculum courses, undergraduate and graduate lyric diction for singing, musical theatre workshop, studio voice and other related courses as needed.   The faculty member will be expected to remain engaged in creative activities related to his or her area(s) of expertise, as well as departmental duties as assigned by the Chair.

APPOINTMENT: Full-time, tenure track, nine-month appointment effective August 15, 2017, at the rank of Assistant, Associate Professor, or Professor.  The salary is competitive.

THE UNIVERSITY AND THE FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC:  The University of Miami is a private, independent, comprehensive university with an enrollment of approximately 15,650 students from all fifty states and over 114 countries.  The main campus is located in Coral Gables, a residential suburb of Miami.  The Frost School of Music has an enrollment of approximately 750 majors in 31 programs leading toward B.A., B.M., B.S., M.M., M.S., D.M.A., and Ph.D. degrees.  These programs are served by approximately 71 full-time and 45 part-time faculty, plus 139 graduate teaching assistants.
