OPERA America is dedicated to supporting the creation, presentation and enjoyment of opera.

The association provides members with an array of publications and online resources, regional workshops, an annual conference and network-specific services such as conference calls, listservs and direct contact with staff with expertise in opera production, administration and education. OPERA America provides members with tools to maximize the effectiveness of financial and human resources, expand the scope of repertoire and programs, and extend their reach to new and diverse audiences.

Founded in 1976, BLO’s mission is to build curiosity, enthusiasm, and support for opera, by creating musically and theatrically compelling productions, events, and educational resources for our community and beyond. BLO produces opera in all forms, large to small, popular to less known, from early music to newly commissioned works. BLO produces four mainstage productions each season: three at the Citi Performing Arts Center (SM) Shubert Theatre in Boston and an Opera Annex production in an alternative space outside the traditional opera theatre. BLO’s programs are funded, in part, by grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

All OPERA America facilities are handicapped accessible. The National Opera Center features ground-level entry with elevators to the venue.
