PURPOSE:  To support the Director of Marketing in all San Francisco Opera audience development, single ticket, subscription and outreach efforts.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum two (2) years general office experience; marketing, public relations, sales or arts background experience preferred

  • Knowledge of basic marketing principles including e-marketing; writing and copy-editing

  • Familiarity with operatic repertoire and artists (preferred)

  • Proficiency in online research

  • Proficiency in HTML

  • Familiarity with CMS programs, Episerver preferred

  • Familiarity with CRM programs, Tessitura preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Familiarity with Photoshop

  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently; prioritize tasks; and exercise good judgment and initiative

  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with staff, the public, and volunteers in an effective, professional, confidential and tactful manner

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Preferred knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style or Associated Press Style guides

  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Assists Director of Marketing:

  • Mail/email/phone inquiries, internal and external; customer service issues (CSI’s

  • Correspondence and filing

  • Schedules Marketing staff meetings, learning sessions, events

  • End-of-season sales reports (working with Marketing Analyst)
     

              Provides departmental organization and support:

  • Production maintenance of Marketing web content including but not limited to radio and TV broadcast posts, special events and audio posts
  • Proofs and edits all departmental brochures, emails and other collateral
  • Coordinates and maintains the Marketing Department list trades
  • Customer Service response
  • Fulfills media partner receivables
  • Creates promoted-post visuals and copy for Marketing campaigns (works with Associate Director of Marketing)
  • Processes departmental invoices
  • Responsible for maintaining and ordering departmental office supplies
  • Materials storage, archives 
  • Special event support 

              

               Member of Cross-Departmental Social Media Team:

  • One of Marketing Department representatives, presenting ideas for campaigns, posts
  • Creates Facebook ads, posts photos
  • Contributes to blog content

              
              SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares marketing meeting agendas, department timesheets and other documents
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
