Full-time, Non-exempt

PURPOSE:  To provide administrative and project support for San Francisco Opera’s highest-rated donors and prospects.  To support the areas of Principal Giving, Endowment and Capital campaigns, Legacy Giving and Prospect Research in the development department. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of related work experience

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to interact sensitively with high-level donors, board members, leadership, staff and the public in a professional, confidential and tactful manner

  • Ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple projects with tight timelines, meet firm deadlines

  • Ability to respond to complex requests and provide high-level patron services.

  • Ability to perform tasks promptly and accurately, with great attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams and colleagues

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications

  • Proficiency with current internet graphics and desktop publishing applications

  • Basic knowledge of budgeting and expense management

  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events in the Bay Area

  • Ability to perform the functions of the position in a safe manner

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides professional administrative support for the areas of Principal Giving, Endowment and Capital campaigns, Legacy Giving and Research at San Francisco Opera.  Helps to ensure that these areas are successful at serving the strategic mission, vision and values of the organization. 

  • Supports the Deputy Director and works with Principal Giving, Legacy Giving and Research team to administer campaigns, initiatives and projects related to the highest levels of giving at San Francisco Opera

  • Provides high-level services and responds to requests from the Opera’s most valuable patrons.  Delivers professional stewardship and concierge support to demanding and influential patrons and board members.

  • Supports Director of Principal Giving as needed in department-wide implementation of Centennial Campaign processes and procedures

  • Supports the Principal Giving, Legacy Giving and Research functional areas as needed

  • Provides administrative support as needed for the Directors and Officers Committee, Legacy Giving Committee and the Opera’s Centennial Campaign steering committee

  • Provides administrative support as necessary to facilitate greater board engagement with the Opera

  • Provide administrative support as needed for the area of prospect research and strategy

  • Helps administer logistics for strategic travel opportunities for principal and campaign donors and the Board of Directors, including trips organized for SFO major donors and prospects

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of donor contacts and ongoing patron communications

  • Helps assure processes for timely and accurate gift acknowledgement and donor recognition 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Works in partnership with all areas of development to facilitate events and donor cultivation opportunities

  • Works closely with all areas of development to support annual giving and leadership gifts fundraising

  • Helps manage flow of donors through subscription renewal and Donor Priority Seating process

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
