Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point (www.opera.org), is a training program for aspiring opera singers in beautiful Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Now preparing for its 67th season, the company runs three mainstage productions in repertory (7-8 performances each) and a smaller, traveling studio artist production for a one-month season, mid-June to mid-July. The company comprises 45 vocal artists supported by an artistic/administrative staff of 25 and a paid orchestra of 25. 2017 mainstage productions: Floyd’s Susannah, Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Bizet’s Carmen. Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point is seeking an Assistant Technical Director for its 67th Season, dates mid-May (TBA) through July 22, 2017. Responsibilities include assisting the Scenic Designer /Technical Director in the construction of scenery, running scene shifts during show performances, nightly changeovers, supervising student/artist and volunteer workers, and other duties as needed. The successful applicants will be creative, reliable, talented problem solvers with experience in stage carpentry, rigging, and running shows backstage.
The assistant technical director will be hired as an independent contractor, will be ineligible for medical/retirement/travel benefits and no taxes will be withheld. Compensation comprises $2750, a semi-private air-conditioned room and meals 6.5 days/week for the period of the contract.
Review of applications will begin February 15 and continue until the positions are filled. Interviews might be held in March at USITT 2017 in St. Louis.
