ALBA Consort's "Treasure Laden" Gems of the Ancient and Brave New World"
7:00PM - 9:00PM

Presented by Margo Andrea Grib

As part of the New York Philharmonic's "New World Initiative," ALBA Consert presents:

"Treasure Laden" ~ Melodic Gems of the Ancient and Brave New World

Margo Andrea - director; mezzo-soprano, vielle
Rex Benincasa - percussion, voice, psaltery
Christopher Morrongiello - lute, baroque quitar
Carlo Valte - oud

ALBA Consort specializes in Early Mediterranean Music on period instruments — illuminating Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque melodies, poetry and improvisation traditions from Spain, North Africa, France, Cyprus, Italy and Armenia. This season, the New York Philharmonic, in celebration of its 175th Anniversary, has invited ALBA Consort to participate in its "New World Initiative" and explore interpretations of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World." In "Treasure Laden," ALBA weaves its dynamic repertoire with iconic themes from Dvorak's 9th symphony in a performance of the Ancient and Brave New World.
