Description: In the stormy December of 1903 at Kitty Hawk, NC, Wilbur Wright awaits the return of his brother Orville, who has gone back to Ohio to secure stronger propeller shafts. Adam Etheridge, a Kitty Hawk native, arrives with his wife, daughter, and son. Orville returns with members of the Kill Devil Hills life-saving squad who have volunteered to assist with the flying experiment. When the weather clears, the brothers are observed taking turns flying their machine, the last flight of which proves conclusively that they have solved the problem of manned flight. After the departure of a member of the squad injured following the flying experiments, the brothers reflect on the significance of their achievement.
