American Opera Projects, Inc.
Adapted by Paula Kimper from Thornton Wilder's novel of the same name, is an opera about love in its many forms shown through an investigation into the lives of five people who are suddenly killed when a rope-bridge they are crossing breaks and collapses into a deep gorge in the Peruvian Andes of 1714. In the opera this story is brought to life by Brother Juniper, a witness to the accident who interprets the books, letters, journals and artifacts left behind.
