OPERA America is firmly committed to developing leaders who will advance the creation, presentation and enjoyment of opera for years to come. OPERA America is pleased to announce the second year of the Leadership Intensive program, generously funded by American Express.

The Leadership Intensive identifies the most promising emerging leaders in the field of opera administration and provides them with the skills and contacts needed to advance to an executive level position. Topics to be addressed will include marketing, development, financial management, negotiations, human resources, communications and strategic planning.

The 2013 program includes two primary elements:

• Opera Conference 2013: Opera Out of Bounds*
  Complimentary registration and travel and lodging subsidy to attend the premier annual gathering of industry professionals from May 7-11, 2013 in Vancouver. Participants attend the Leadership Advance, a series of two half-day leadership seminars and morning breakfast presentations each day of the conference.
• Summer Intensive
  Complimentary registration and travel and lodging subsidy to attend a week-long leadership development workshop in New York, July 8-12, 2013. The Summer Intensive will build on the topics covered at the annual conference, with a particular focus on personal leadership development.

Participation Expenses
Thanks to a generous grant from American Express, OPERA America is pleased to offer this leadership training free of charge for up to 10 participants. Travel and lodging subsidies of up to 50% of related expenses are also provided.

Successful applicants will have demonstrated their dedication to a career in opera or arts administration. Applicants must have at least an undergraduate degree and a minimum of three years of professional experience in opera or arts administration. A master’s degree in arts administration or related field is preferred.

*Individuals interested in participating only in the annual conference component of the Leadership Intensive may register for the Leadership Advance seminar series in conjunction with registration to Opera Conference 2013: Opera Out of Bounds. No application is necessary. Registration fees apply and conference-only participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodations.
