The Onstage at the Opera Center season is your opportunity to experience opera from the inside! From your seat in the intimate Marc A. Scorca Hall at the National Opera Center, you’ll hear tales of the opera world firsthand from legendary artists, experience the cutting-edge work of American opera composers and learn about their creative process, and discover the brightest new opera stars of tomorrow through recitals.

All attendees are invited to a casual reception following each Conversations, Creators in Concert and Emerging Artist Recital Series event. OPERA America members receive up to two tickets for $10 each to all 2016–2017 Onstage events. Become a valued member of our organization by joining today.

New Opera Showcase
Experience the cutting edge of opera this January with the New Opera Showcase, an evening of orchestral readings of five operas in development. Part of OPERA America’s annual meeting of opera creators, the New Opera Showcase takes place at historic Town Hall in the heart of Times Square with the SONOS Chamber Orchestra.

World Premiere of Fierce Grace: Jeannette Rankin (Washington, D.C.)
The Library of Congress and OPERA America co-present the world premiere of Fierce Grace: Jeannette Rankin, a song cycle about the first woman elected to Congress. It was composed by Kitty Brazelton, Laura Kaminsky, Laura Karpman and Ellen Reid, with a text by Kimberly Reed. A performance of the song cycle will be followed by a panel discussion with the creators on the state of women composers and librettists in the field of American opera.
