Music! Words! Opera! Materials

Teachers have used Music! Words! Opera! materials for over 20 years to introduce their students to the joys of learning through opera.

A new edition of the popular textbooks is now available for purchase from GIA Publications, Inc. Each opera is now available in a separate text and includes a full-length DVD recording. Titles include:
  • Hansel and Gretel
  • Aida (coming Summer 2012)
  • Create Your Own Music! Words! Opera! (coming Summer 2012; DVD not included)

What is in the textbooks?
Music! Words! Opera! textbooks include a detailed sequence of lesson plans for introducing opera to an upper elementary or middle school classroom. Each opera-specific text includes a full-length DVD of the opera and access to exclusive online resources in addition to in-class activities, a listening guide and an assessment toolkit.

With Create Your Own Music! Words! Opera!, a class collaborates to compose, prepare and perform an original work of music-theater. This text provides numerous in-class activities, as well as a comprehensive guide to leading the creation process.
