Job Title:         Technical Assistant/Driver

Reports To:     Technical and Safety Director

Classification: Full-time 9 month Seasonal contract, Non-Exempt

 

Summary

The Technical Assistant/Driver supports the Technical Department in day-to-day operations. Working with the members of the Technical and Production departments to coordinate, pick up and/or deliver all materials and equipment needs for all areas of Production. Works with the Technical department to schedule and plan technical support for Company Events on and off-site. Maintains hardware and equipment storage onsite at the Opera Offices. Supports the Safety program needs of the Technical Department. Works under the management of the Technical and Safety Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the service and appearance of vehicles, including registration/inspection.
  • Order, picks-up and safely transport equipment/materials in a timely, safe and courteous manner for all areas of Company.
  • Set up and strike of Company events on and off-site.
  • Monitor inventory of basic hardware and keep stock up to date.
  • Organize and maintain credit card receipts and coding.
  • Monitor and maintain SDS paperwork for all appropriate material purchases.

Other Duties

  • Support for the Technical and Production Departments tasks as needed.
  • Provide A/V support during Company events on and offsite as needed.
  • Ability to drive trucks up to 26’ and pull trailers.
  • Ability to attain a fork lift certification.
  • Ability to attain an OSHA 10 certification.

NOTE: This job description represents the essential functions of the position, but is not all inclusive.  Additional duties reasonably related to the position may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a valid driver’s license. A clean driving record for the past five years strongly preferred. Must be able to lift seventy-five pounds to waist height. Must have a knowledge of city of Houston and surrounding areas. Available for evening and weekend work. Highly organized.  Basic computer knowledge and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of basic A/V equipment.  Knowledge of tools, hardware, and building materials. Basic carpentry skills. Must be able to pass a background check.

Must have the ability and motivation to process numerous elements and information at a brisk day-to-day pace.  Must have the ability to analyze problems and prioritize their resolution using resources with daily time parameters.  Must be a team player.
