Accounting Manager

The Dallas Opera is currently recruiting an Accounting Manager.  The accounting manager works closely with the marketing, development, production and artistic departments within the organization as well as the external auditors. 

 

Position reports to: Director of Accounting

Responsibilities: Primary areas of responsibility include:

  • Manage all aspects of the Accounting Department
  • Assist in preparing monthly stand-alone and consolidated financial statements
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to month-end and year-end GL close
  • Maintain, reconcile and manage credit card processing (both the revenue cycle and organizational expenses)
  • Process payroll through Paycom for all administration, chorus, orchestra and seasonal employees
  • Analyze and record daily revenue/cash journal transactions
  • Complete a Daily Cash Flow Report for Senior Management
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accuracy between Tessitura and the General Ledger
  • Assist in preparing all audit and tax documents
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Serve as accounts payable backup
  • Other duties as requested

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required with an emphasis in accounting desired

 

Work Experience:

Minimum five (5) years accounting experience.  Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred

 

Prerequisite Skills:

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit GAAP
  • Comfortable managing the general ledger along with the subledgers (accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management)
  • Financial Edge experience ideal
  • Advanced experience with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required
  • Payroll experience preferred
  • Tessitura experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of Concur (employee expense reimbursement system)
  • Ability to complete a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Able to set appropriate priorities and meet deadlines
  • Able to analyze financial data, think logically and effectively communicate results
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Great team-player
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality
  • Classical music or opera interest a plus
