Home Is a Harbor
Composer: Mark Abel
Librettist: Mark Abel
Premiere Date: Not available.
Description: “Home Is a Harbor" tells the story of two teenaged sisters from California's Central Coast as they move out into “the real world” after high school -- grappling with early success, the financial crisis, the human cost of the war in Afghanistan, the emptiness of some of their peers, the corrupt nature of the art world and the restrictions on personal growth imposed by their chosen professions. Set in bi-coastal locales, the opera is a kind of “Pilgrim’s Progress” in miniature, ending serenely with a commitment to aid struggling veterans in the sisters’ hometown of Morro Bay.
