Luke and Sarah
Composer: James Domine

Description: The story tells the beautiful but tragic tale of two young lovers (Luke and Sarah) who, like Romeo and Juliet, are born into two rival clans—the McBeams and the McDaniels. The families are involved in an ongoing feud over the moonshine business among the mountain-folk. These culturally agrarian hillbillies are themselves pitted against the invading industrialists—railroaders, timbermen, coal miners, "revenoors," Miss Dixie, and the Preacher—with sometimes humorous and sometimes very devastating consequences.
Length: 02:30
Total Acts: 2
Chorus: Chorus
Musical Style: The classical operatic score incorporates American folk music with original materials, balanced among authentic fiddle and banjo tunes, church hymns, square dances, and other Americana
