Description: In 1897, the American explorer Robert Edmund Peary (who averred that he had reached the North Pole) transported six members of an Inuit family from their home in Greenland to his home in New York City. To fund his further explorations of the Arctic, Peary installed the Inuit in the American Museum of Natural History.

The sole survivor of the group is Minik, who as a teenager is horrified to discover that the "Eskimo" skeleton on display in the museum was that of his father. Minik's demands that his father's body be returned to him for a proper burial go unheard by both Peary and Theodore Roosevelt.
