Description: It introduces the race-reversed casting of Othello and Desdemona in a modern American political setting. Othello, Owen Theodore Hulligan, is an Irish American State senator running for governor; Desdemona, Mona, a minority reporter; Iago, John, O.T.'s childhood friend, who feels betrayed when O.T. supports Cassio, Charlie, a minority D.A., for lieutenant governor, instead of John. And so the tale of pathological jealousy, intrigue, and tragic revenge unfolds amidst the hoopla and stressful demands of political campaigning. Because it is also political satire, O.T. is not lacking in wit and humor.
