OPERA America relies on the breadth and diversity of its Organizational Members to access the power of collective experience, gather insight and inform its service to the field.

Founded in 1970 by 20 American opera company leaders interested in sharing resources and successful practices, OPERA America has since built an extensive membership base that includes:

Organizational Membership Types
OPERA America offers six types of Organizational Membership tailored to organizations, companies and institutions working in distinct segments of the opera industry.
• Professional Company Membership
Professional Company Membership is OPERA America's highest level of membership, reserved for those companies that maintain a dedication to professionalism and financial accountability in their production and presentation of opera and music theater. Professional Company Membership is the only membership type that requires approval of the OPERA America Board of Directors. + Learn more

• Associate Membership
OPERA America’s Associate Membership is for nonprofit producing companies, presenting entities, ensembles, competitions, guilds or other organizations whose mission is related to the production, creation or enjoyment of opera or music theater. + Learn more

• Business Membership
OPERA America’s Business Membership is for opera-related, nonprofit or for-profit companies that work in areas of administrative services, artistic management, artistic services, consulting, IT/software services, music publishing, production services, tourism and travel, and other arts-related fields. + Learn more

• Career Service and Library Membership
OPERA America’s Career Service and Library Membership is for universities, schools and other career-focused entities, as well as institutional, music and public libraries, that provide industry resources to administrators, artists, technicians and enthusiasts. + Learn more

• Educational Producing Affiliate Membership
OPERA America’s Educational Producing Affiliate Membership is for educational institutions, including universities, conservatories and other schools, that present productions of opera or music theater and train singers, composers, librettists, directors and designers in the art of opera and music theater. + Learn more

All OPERA America facilities are handicapped accessible. The National Opera Center features ground-level entry with elevators to the venue. All spaces are wheelchair accessible, and modular seating can be arranged to accommodate wheelchair users for all programs and performances. Handicapped accessible restrooms are available on all floors.
