INSTITUTIONAL GIVING ASSOCIATE

Seattle Opera is accepting applications for the position of Institutional Giving Associate. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Institutional Giving Officer.

 

SCOPE AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The Institutional Giving Associate reports to the Institutional Giving Officer and is responsible for the administrative work in support of identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding contributed revenue from corporate, foundation, government, and other organizational funders.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

CORPORATE RELATIONS

  • Create, customize, and submit letters of introduction and intent, sponsorship requests, and reports.

  • In partnership with the Institutional Giving Officer and committee members, support corporate sponsorship goals for the annual fundraising Gala.

 

FOUNDATION, GOVERNMENT AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS

  • Prepare letters of intent, grant proposals, and reports for government, foundation, and organizational funders over the life the grant process. Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of grants submitted.

  • In partnership with Development and Program staff, create and maintain sponsorship materials for mainstage production, education and community engagement programs, event support, and other designated projects as assigned.

 

DONOR STEWARDSHIP

  • Support high quality management of donor benefit communications, including invitations to donor events.

  • In partnership with Development Operations staff and Development Coordinator, review institutional gift entry for accuracy, draft acknowledgement letters, and ensure 48-hour turnaround time once grant has been received.

 

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

  • Update budget and forecast tools in Tessitura.

  • Maintain the Institutional Giving calendar of deadlines and tasks.

  • Maintain and organize institutional donor files.

  • Participate in and support the creation of cultivation strategies for new institutional prospects and existing funders with upgrade potential.
  • Provide prospect research support to the Institutional Giving Officer, development staff, and the Board of Directors.

  • Track all “moves”, i.e. donor visits, letters of introduction or intent, proposals, reports, other documents, deadlines, results, and more, in Tessitura.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Donor communication experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of Tessitura and/or experience with customer relationship management systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Opera knowledge is a plus.

  • Salary DOE.
