Pittsburgh Opera is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Manager of Corporate Development. The Manager of Corporate Development is responsible for soliciting and raising philanthropic support for Pittsburgh Opera from the corporate and business community. The position is part of the Opera’s development staff, reporting to the Director of Development and responsible for cultivating, managing and increasing a portfolio of corporate donors. The Manager of Corporate Development, along with the Director of Development, works with the leadership of Pittsburgh Opera and volunteers to maximize corporate philanthropy to the Opera.

Specific job responsibilities of the Manager of Corporate Development

  • Achieve the established goals for sponsorships and gifts from the corporate and business community.
  • Identify, research and cultivate prospects to increase the number of participating organizations.
  • Create and execute a solicitation and cultivation program for corporate sponsorship and underwriting opportunities through written proposals and personal solicitations.
  • Establish goals and strategies based on existing donor histories and proposed programming.
  • Recruit prospects for and secure funding from Pennsylvania’s EITC program.
  • Develop and execute targeted communication and cultivation activities, as well as maximize the use of existing programs and activities for cultivation and stewardship.
  • Maintain donor records and tracking systems for cultivation activities, gifts, payments, and reporting schedules.
  • Serve as staff liaison for the recruitment and management of Board members and other community leaders to actively participate on the Corporate Sub-Committee of the Board.
  • Lead the Opera’s efforts to strengthen corporate participation in the annual fund and special events by identifying potential corporate relationships among individual donors.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term departmental planning and evaluation.
  • Staff Opera events and productions and welcome guests to Opera performances at the Benedum Center, CAPA Theatre and staff other events and programing of Pittsburgh Opera.
  • Conduct all other duties assigned by the Director of Development, as part of the development staff.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum three (3) years relevant work experience, preferably in corporate development.
  • Proven success in increasing support through corporate giving programs
  • Highly motivated
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with donor management/fundraising software, Tessitura preferred
  • Ability to strategically and creatively achieve fundraising goals
  • Comfortable working in a busy, open work environment
  • Available to work nights and weekends as needed; valid PA driver’s license and vehicle
  • History of being a personal and professional asset to an organization
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, Board members and volunteers
  • Possess a willingness to learn new skills and achieve professional growth

Compensation

The position is full-time exempt. Salary is commensurate with experience and demonstrated skills. Benefits include medical, and vision; paid vacation and holidays. The Pittsburgh Opera is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
