First Hands

The Glimmerglass Festival seeks First Hands for its 2019 summer season (La Traviata, Show Boat, The Ghosts of Versailles, and the world premiere of Blue). Contract dates are mid-May through mid-July 2019. The First Hand will cut and stitch projects, assist in the supervision of Stitchers, and prep/assist with fittings.

Duties:

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of the Costume Shop
  • Assist in distributing work to Stitchers
  • Assist in checking Stitchers’ work
  • Cutting and stitiching as requested
  • Prep fitting room
  • Assist with fittings, including taking notes and photos
  • Available for dress rehearsals (Assist wardrobe with dressing performers, take notes for the Draper, etc.)
  • Assist in pulling/restocking/organizing items in Costume Storage

Please note that this is a general guideline of what is expect of a First Hand but you may be asked to perform other duties in the Costume Department as well.
