Boston Lyric Opera seeks candidates for a position providing assistance and support to the Artistic department. Responsibilities include preparing production budgets, forecasting expenses, preparing and issuing guest artist contracts, and coordinating/preparing payroll and associated hiring paperwork. The Artistic Manager will assist with the administration of union Collective Bargaining Agreements, as well as negotiation of some artist contracts and licensing agreements. This position also maintains artistic databases, issues schedules and contracts to the chorus, serves as the liaison to the Orchestra Personnel Manager, and provides general support for all company events involving artists.

 

Some night and weekend work will be required at rehearsals, performances, other programs, and events throughout the season.

 

Qualifications: 2-5 years work experience. Bachelor's degree in Music, Arts Administration, or Business preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access). Ability to read music. Able to lift and carry 40 lbs. Knowledge of classical music repertoire is a major plus.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented and possess excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills. Flexibility, attention to detail, bottom-line orientation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure, collegial environment are required.
