This position oversees and produces special projects, performances and activities, focusing on extra-curricular master classes, residencies, recitals, concerts, and high-level projects. This position also works closely with the Associate Director to manage new initiatives and ongoing programs in areas including external relations, artistic administration, outreach, development and special events. This is a 42-week per year position, August – May.

 Responsibilities:

  • Manage performances, events and activities for the department, focusing primarily on extra-curricular recitals, concerts, master classes, residencies and collaborations with other departments
  • Manage high-profile projects including Songfest, Vocal Arts Honors Recital, the Live-Streaming master class series and cultivation events
  • Manage projects in coordination with other departments including Historical Performance, Conducting, Career Services, Lab Orchestra, Music Technology and Chamber Music departments
  • Working closely with the Director, Performance Activities and Associate Director, assist in coordinating aspects of external relations including VIP/industry communications, outreach, ticketing, and development activities as assigned
  • Assist the Associate Director with aspects of artist engagement, guest hospitality, hotel/travel arrangements and liaising upon arrival in NYC
  • Manage orientation and ticketing requests for guest artists, VIP and industry relations
  • Manage playbill content for projects as applicable
  • Oversee miscellaneous projects and initiatives in areas including but not limited to opera productions/scenes programs, curricular activities, and other special events as needed

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of professional experience in arts administration or higher education
  • Professional experience producing high-level events or performances for an arts organization or higher education institution
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with people of various backgrounds, adapting with ease and authority
  • Strong decision making and leadership skills, and the ability to assess, prioritize, and find creative solutions when problem-solving
  • Must exercise excellent judgment and integrity under stressful circumstances
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in very busy environment
  • Ability to work well independently to meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Must be available on evenings and weekends when in production
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Solid working knowledge of classical music especially vocal repertoire and opera
  • Ability to read music and piano/vocal scores
  • Excellent writing skills
