10 week Seasonal Position (January 15- March 18, 2020)

This position is a member of the Music Staff that works directly with the Professional Artists. This position works collaboratively with all other departments and reports to the Artistic Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coach Artists on season assignments of roles, concert repertoire, and engagement program repertoire. Coachings should be in depth and address musical style/practice, diction, and dramatic interpretation.
  • Accompany Artists at concerts and presentations in various locations throughout coastal southwest Florida as part of the GO touring Opera Festival.
  • Collaborate with Artistic Director on repertoire selection for all programs involving Artists.
  • Rehearsal pianist for mainstage oper ( La boheme) for chorus music rehearsals, staging rehearsals, cover rehearsals, and onstage piano technical rehearsals.
  • Work with Production staff (Production Manager) to coordinate musical rehearsals into daily schedule.
  • Possible preliminary chorus rehearsal directing and/or back stage chorus directing.

 

Qualifications

  • 2 years minimum of experience in opera coaching/accompanying for a professional opera company
  • Master’s degree in collaborative piano/accompanying/coaching
  • Extensive knowledge of operatic repertoire, language/diction training, and vocal technique.
  • Basic choral conducting skills preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills: experience in a Windows environment utilizing Word, Excel.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed

 

Remuneration - $800 per week plus travel stipend and housing
