Merola Opera Program hiring Assistant Production Manager

Employee Seasonal Status: Paid Weekly, Housing & Travel not provided

Pay & Contract Dates: $1100 per week, June 8-August 13

Locations: Office at War Memorial Opera House, Rehearsals at SF Conservatory of Music,

1 Staged Concert and 2 Opera Performances at The Presidio Theatre

 

About San Francisco Opera Center: As a division of the San Francisco Opera, the SF Opera Center is dedicated to nurturing opera's most promising young artists. Since 1982, the Center has welcomed the finest young artists from around the world into its celebrated Merola Summer Opera Festival.

Job Responsibilities:

Assistant to the Production Manager

When necessary, act as Representative of PM

When necessary act as Supervisor of the Merola team and Theater crews

Under the direction of the PM interface with Artistic and Music Staff

Work with Stage Management and Technical Director to assess and strategize fulfilling show needs

Under the direction of the PM and with TD coordinate and execute transportation of all orchestra, scenery, props, costumes to and from storage, rehearsals and performances

With Technical Director determine and source any Orchestra rental needs

With Technical Director drive and supervise loading and unloading trucks

Carpentry or Lighting experience a plus

Prior Opera, Orchestra or Music experience a plus

Assist with other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Proficiency in Word and Excel

Experience with Vectorworks or Lightwright a plus

Strong ability to supervise Crews

Able to lift heavy loads (50 lbs)

Must have 3-4 years professional Theatre Experience

Must be able to work varied hours, including nights and weekends

Driver’s License required, Must be able to drive 16’ - 24’ box truck
Excellent organization skills

Pleasant attitude and demeanor

Team Player
