Composer: Missy Mazzoli
Composer Bio: A fast-rising composer on the contemporary music scene, Missy Mazzoli's music reflects a trend among contemporary composers who combine styles in the 21st century. Mazzoli is also an active pianist, and often performs with Victoire, an "all-star, all-female quintet" (Time Out New York) she founded in 2009 dedicated exclusively to her own compositions. Mazzoli attended the Yale School of Music, Royal Conservatory of the Hague, and boston University. Her principal teachers were Louis Andriessen, Martijn Padding, Richard Ayres, David Lang, Martin Bresnick, Aaron Jay Kernis, Charles Fussell, Richard Cornell, Martin Amlin, and John Harbison.
Librettist: Erin Cressida-Wilson
Librettist Bio: Screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson is a professor of dramatic writing at Duke University and a monthly sex columnist for Razor magazine. Some of her internationally produced plays include "Hurricane," "The Trail of Her Inner Thigh,", and "Cross-Dressing in the Depression." Along with Lillian Ann Slugocki, she co-wrote "The Erotica Project." Her screenplay adaptation of Mary Gaitskil's novel was made into the feature film "Secretary," earning her a nomination for Best First Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards. She also adapted the musical "Wilder" and wrote the screenplays "Celeste" and "The Burgermeister's Daughter."
