Synopsis
"Winners" depicts the last day on earth of two young lovers destined to die by day's end in a boating accident. As the audience gradually learns of the fate that awaits the young pair through the narrative of two ballad-singers, life, in the presence of death, appears all the more precious and fleeting. "Losers" portrays the efforts of two middle-aged lovers to pursue a romance amid a barrage of obstacles that includes the household's nightly Rosary to St. Philomena. When the Vatican expels St. Philomena from its Canon of Saints, havoc ensues and lives are forever altered.
