Trilogy of Poe (Three Choreo-Dramas)
Composer:Vittorio Furgeri
Librettist:Edgar Allan Poe
Synopsis
The Trilogy of Poe is a choreo-musical dramatization of poems by Edgar Allan Poe (^The Raven`, ^Annabel Lee`, and ^The Bells`). In ^The Raven` and ^Annabel Lee`, the protagonists are represented by two different artists, a singer-narrator, and a dancer (as the young protagonists.) The character Annabel Lee is also represented on stage as a soprano and a female dancer. In ^The Raven`, Lenore appears as a vision and the raven as a reality. In order to underline the feverish atmosphere of Poe's poems, the "reminiscences" are introduced, as restatements of choreo-musical elements previously used.
