Baltimore Concert Opera continues its popular performance/tasting series this season, Thirsty Thursdays at the Opera. Top-flight professional opera singers perform operatic highlights paired with specialty drinks interspersed throughout the evening expertly planned to pair with the music.  Events feature local breweries, wines, or specialty cocktails. The events are fabulous, relaxed evenings in the beautiful Grand Ballroom of the Engineers Club in the heart of Mount Vernon. Don't forget to bring your friends - there are automatic group discounts for 5 or more guests!

In this panel, African-American women artists and scholars discuss what “Sally Hemings” means to them in their work and consciousness. How do the facts of history inform the artist’s creativity, and vice-versa?How can a figure about whom we know so little mean so much to so many, and why has her moment finally arrived?

Come join us for a drink and lively, inspiring discussion in the cozy gathering space at Common House, as some of America’s most original thinkers and creators share their insights.

Featuring playwright Sandra Seaton (From the Diary of Sally Hemings), multimedia artist Marisa Williamson (UVA Ruffin Distinguished Artist-in-Residence), scholar Naomi André (Black Opera: History, Power, Engagement), moderated by soprano Alyson Cambridge (Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall). Other panelists TBA.
