Lecture: Marylene Smeets
8:15PM - 11:59PM

Marylene Smeets, who in 2003 was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, has written a memoir on how she went from hardly being able to walk a few blocks on New York's hot and humid days, to being able to play tennis on so-called oven days.

Entitled Merciless Gift -- Unwrapped in New York, Marylene's book sets out her holistic approach which assumes there is a direct link between specific physical complaints and specific mental patterns.

Marylene will give an introduction to Merciless Gift, after which there will be ample time for discussion.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Ticket price includes drinks afterwards.

More information can be found at marylenesmeets.eu, where you can also register to be notified when Merciless Gift is released in English.
It is a happy coincidence that this presentation is being given during the Dutch Boekenweek or "Book Week" (7-15 March), whose theme translates as "Rebels and Cross Thinkers".

Sounds of Chile Concert
7:00PM - 9:00PM

Presented by Notes for Growth

Notes for Growth is proud to present the Concert 'Sounds of Chile,' a spectacular showcase of classical music by Chilean composers featuring the gifted Chilean artists: Claudia Peñailillo (clarinet), Daniel Lamas (violin), and Patricio Molina (piano).  A Wine & Hors d'oeuvres reception will begin at 7pm, immediately followed by the Concert at 8pm.

At Notes for Growth, we believe all children, no matter their present circumstances, should have the opportunity to benefit from the long-lasting, positive impact of music education. Through our Musical Instrument Project, we collect donated underutilized instruments, like pianos, and distribute them to deserving institutions that offer free music programs to children. Currently, Notes for Growth supports music programs in underserved communities in New York/New Jersey and throughout Chile in South America.

With valuable support of our strategic partners and individual donors, in 2019 Notes for Growth distributed musical instruments to the Newark School of the Arts in New Jersey and shipped its first container of donated pianos to Chile, for the benefit of over 5,000 children. What's more, we are thrilled to announce that our second container is scheduled to port in Chile in late February and that we are currently working on our first donation to the Dominican Republic.

'Sounds of Chile' is made possible thanks to our generous event sponsors. Funds raised at the event will enable us to continue carry out our mission.

Free event. Seating is limited. Reserve with haste by email to gsandovalrequena@notesforgrowth.org
