A Doll's House
7:00PM - 10:30PM

Presented by Voice Afire Opera-Cabaret

A Doll's House: an original 3 act opera for 6 singers and 2 keyboards, presented in concert by Voice Afire Opera-Cabaret. Based on Henrik Ibsen's groundbreaking 19th Century play, A Doll's House turns operatic melodrama on its head: heroes become villains and villains heroes, societal conventions are honored and then questioned. Perhaps the most performed play in history, Ibsen's A Doll's House deals critically with the suffocating norms of 19th Century marriage. However, the theme goes beyond this and is far more universal, namely how can each and every individual find out exactly who they are. When Ibsen's heroine Norma first slammed the door, leaving behind her husband and 3 children, the sound reverberated throughout the world.
