"Wonder Women": Classical Music Moments
8:00PM - 9:00PM

Presented by Nancy Kito

Back in the day, female baroque composers were rather thin on the ground; before Xena and Wonder Woman, we had Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre & Isabella Leonarda.

Join Ensemble Leonarda in exploring extraordinary works by extraordinary women. Featuring Jacquet de la Guerre's "La Sommeil d'Ulise," with live-action drawing by New Yorker cartoonist Victor Varnado. Ensemble Leonarda is pleased to be collaborating with composer Elizabeth Brown on a new work for baroque band, voice, and shamisen, "A Glimpse of Dawn," on a text by Otomae (1085-1169).

This is a 1-hour concert, no intermission.
