The game's afoot! A giant is dead, and his body lies at the base of a great beanstalk. The police believe young Jack is responsible. But the boy insists that he's innocent, and begs the help of the great detective Sherlock Holmes and his colleague, Dr. Watson. Can they untangle this magical mystery?

Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant was commissioned by ALT as part of our initiative to develop new family-friendly, full-length operas. Join us for the next event in our InsightALT series, and get a glimpse inside ALT's development process. This one-night-only concert presentation is the culmination of a week-long workshop for the opera.

Following the concert-reading, we invite the audience to join in a discussion about the work in progress with composer Evan Meier and librettist E.M. Lewis, led by ALT's Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Lawrence Edelson.

This opera is currently being developed under the auspices of American Lyric Theater's Composer Librettist Development Program.

VOICExperience’s annual Opera as Drama week in New York City is taking place from March 24-April 1 this year at Manhattan’s National Opera Center. 

Highlights of this week include a Master Class led by legendary stage director Fabrizio Melano on Monday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. Melano is joined by the insightful Laura Melano Flanagan, Psychotherapist, who will work with singers on the psychological aspects of scenes and arias.

There will also be a Milnes Master Class at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26.  You don’t sing over 600 performances at the Met without learning a thing or two. Legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes will share wisdom on interpretation and performance.
