The Mamlok Prize - soprano Amber Evans & Mivos Quartet
7:00PM - 9:00PM

Presented by Dwight & Ursula Mamlok Foundation / Reiko Fueting

Amber Evans, soprano, and the Mivos Quartet will perform jointly Monday, May 20, at 7 PM in Scorca Hall as the first U.S. winners of The Mamlok Prize for Interpreters of Contemporary Music.  The concert honors the remarkable German-born composer Ursula Mamlok (1923-2016), who as a precocious teenager fled the Nazis, later to become a fixture in New York’s new music scene.

The concert will feature Mamlok’s Stray Birds and String Quartet No. 1, and will include a short documentary about her life.  Works by Lukas Foss, Reiko Fueting, Jeffrey Mumford, Meilina Tsui, and Nils Vigeland will also be performed, with guest artists Thomas Feng, piano;  Francesca Ferrara, flute;  Jon Clancy, percussion; and Tyler Borden, cello.  A reception follows.  Presented by the Dwight and Ursula Mamlok Foundation.

For free priority seating, reply to Continuum-ny@nyc.rr.com with name and number of seats requested.
