Start Time: 6:00PM

Yuval Sharon's experimental opera company, The Industry, is workshopping their next major independent production, Sweet Land on May 4 & 5 at L.A. Opera Lafayette
Other: La Susanna

Web Address:
Start Time: 8:00PM

Opera Lafayette and Heartbeat Opera present a co-production of this chamber oratorio, taken from the story of Susanna and the Elders from the book of Daniel. The topic is unusually timely and relevant, addressing the issues of sexual harassment and unjust imprisionment both subtly and powerfully. Directed by HBO's Co-Artistic Director Ethan Heard, Lucía Martín Cartón makes her debut as Susanna, Sara Couden as Testo, with Malorie Casimir as Daniel, and Patrick Kilbride and Paul Max Tipton as the Elders. Designers of this new production include Reid Thompson (scenery), Oliver Wason (lighting), and Beth Goldenberg (costumes). Ryan Brown is music director.

New Camerata Opera
The Rape of Lucretia

New Camerata Opera presents Benjamin Britten’s masterpiece, The Rape of Lucretia at Tribeca’s The Flea Theater on May 2, 4 and 5, 2019. Directed by Bea Goodwin, this rendering of the tragic story will confront the harsh reality of a woman’s experience with rape, suppression, and being silenced by men. This production will include a deaf actress to mirror the sung role of Lucretia. ASL will serve as a megaphone to further amplify the contours of Lucretia’s powerful story. Maestro Justin Bischof will lead the Modus Opera Orchestra in the performance of this groundbreaking score.
