SONGFEST RECITALS
Beautiful Bel Canto: This concert will focus on famous composers from the period featuring opera arias, duets, and incidental music. The narrative will explore connections between opera and art song, as well as explain more about the style of “bel canto” singing.
Real Life = Verismo: This concert will be a mini music history lesson elaborating on how and when the focus of opera went from telling the stories of the aristocracy to common men and women. We will explore how this “realism” affected opera storytelling and the music itself.
Mozart versus Salieri: If you have seen the movie Amadeus, you have heard about the great rivalry between these two composers. Join us for a program exploring the real life drama and hear some of their finished works.
