Meet the Creators: Hutong
Meet Kui Dong and Monica Datta, a composer/librettist team from the 2019 IDEA Opera Grants inaugural cohort. Their fantasy opera Hutong is set in Beijing, China and features an array of international characters, like a blind Norwegian sailor, the Beijing police department, assorted international architects, some children, a frog, and the Fenghuang (phoenix).
