Manager, Training, Learning & Development


DESCRIPTION

The Manager, Training, Learning & Development will provide thought leadership and direction on best practices for training & development programs, including front-line manager and leadership training, management & supervisor expectations, onboarding, safety, workplace harassment and other compliance trainings. The Manager, Training, Learning & Development will be the leader, with the AGM Human Resources, to define and annually developmental review process.  This role will be responsible for understanding and documenting the existing, decentralized training programs and advising on how to set standards for training, establish budgets and goals for development and partnering with business leaders to understand both their compliance needs and their development aspirations.  The successful incumbent will work closely with the DEI team, Safety department and key leaders across our organization to provide expertise and assistance in program development and execution to develop and implement effective learning and talent management programs. The manager will collaborate with leaders to design and implement workshops and training sessions. We’re looking for an innovative, highly collaborative, and inclusive leader with a strong execution mindset.

This role will be responsible for working closely with Finance to understand the budget currently spent in a decentralized model vs. the potential efficiency of centralized model.  This role will also be required to determine what should stay decentralized and assist in establishing standards for training.  Finally, the successful incumbent will be very involved in designing the new learning management system. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify and document all current training, budget, source and purpose

  • Develop constructive relationships with people leaders to understand both compliance and developmental needs.

  • Provide regular thought leadership on best practices both in the business and not for profit worlds. 

  • Identify and lead potential assessment & feedback programs, including an employee survey.

  • Program management for manager training programs, creating efficient and scalable solutions for enrollment, accountability and impact measurement

  • Program management for coaching & mentoring programs, including vendor management & invoicing, internal stakeholder alignment, participation & impact measurement.

  • Design on demand, just-in-time learning experiences based on organization needs

Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Can maintain confidentiality and exercises good judgement.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Database management and excel skills

  • Creating reports and analyzing trend data. 

  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.  

  • Have an excellent eye for detail. 

Physical Demands

  • Associate degree or higher in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education.

  • 3 to 5 years experience in HR and learning & development.

  • Experience working with unionized workforce preferred.

  • Strong track record in delivering strategic and tactical solutions in fast-paced environments

  • Experience in instructional design, creating engaging and effective learning experiences across multiple formats: classroom (in person, virtual, and hybrid), on demand (courses, microlearning, videos, etc.) and more

  • Subject matter expertise on common Leadership & management skills (performance management, communication, inclusion, etc.) and presentation skills

  • Excellence in learning program management (needs assessment, design, impact measurement, etc.)

  • Experience managing external vendors, including independent contractors and coaches, to complement internal learning and development offerings

  • Experience customizing experiences and content to meet the needs of individual business units

  • Excellence in written communication, and project documentation

  • Experience communicating and presenting, especially with executive audiences

  • Ability to be on site 3 to 4 days a week. 


BENEFITS

Pay Range: $65,000 - $85,000 Annual
