POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Stage Manager (PSM) is a critical member of the Production team, acting as the key communicator of all production-specific needs and disseminating this information to TAO Production/Artistic staff, visiting creative team members, and Marketing and Development team members, as needed. During the rehearsal period the PSM is the main source of communication between TAO and all members of a production (artists, designers, etc.). The PSM is also responsible for working with the visiting creative team members and TAO staff to determine all rehearsal and performance needs for each production throughout the season and coordinating with the TAO Film Department for filmed productions. The PSM will work closely with the Director of Production (DOP) and the Director of Artistic Administration (DOAA), to determine staffing needs for Stage Management for each season.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following duties, in addition to other duties as assigned.
The PSM acts as the calling stage manager for TAO’s season and supervises the stage management department including seasonal staff and interns. Perform those duties that are industry standard for the position.
The PSM will be responsible for calling four (4) or five (5) of the six (6) productions based on an appraisal of the specific production needs during the season. After discussion with the DOP the PSM and DOP will make other assignments for Stage Management as needed. Calling shows includes running all technical rehearsals & cuing sessions.
Works closely with the DOP, DOAA, and Associate Director of Production (ADOP) to gather all relevant information for each production throughout the season.
Coordinate with the ADOP and DOAA the creation of all rehearsal schedules and works closely with the Technical Director (TD) to plan and schedule all technical and dress rehearsals for each production.
Coordinate with DOAA to schedule all orchestra rehearsals.
Coordinate with the ADOP/TD to schedule all production meetings to facilitate the smooth transfer of all relevant production information for each TAO production.
Manages the Stage Management team in preparing the room for rehearsal, including working with the Costume Shop Staff and the Properties team to ensure all needed items are prepared prior to the start of the rehearsal period.
The PSM will coordinate the creation and distribution of all rehearsal schedules and calendars, scenic breakdown, contact sheets, rehearsal and performance notes/reports, archival documentation for all productions, and any other document, as needed.
Develop/coordinate with the Costume Shop the scheduling of all fittings and dressing room assignments.
The PSM will work closely with the DOP/ADOP in assessing strengths and skills of Stage Management staff and make recommendations for each season based on those assessments.
Help coordinate light walkers.
Oversee supply inventories in stage management road box and standard artist hospitality inventories.

COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to confidently and calmly manage.
Must be able to read music confidently.
Must have proven ability of leading a stage management team and working with a union crew, union orchestra, and large groups of people throughout the production process.
Is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Strong administrative and project management skills.
Can work independently and meet deadlines.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in theater or equivalent work experience.
Relevant production experience, with a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience as a Stage Manager.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and achieve results in a timely fashion.
Ability to work collaboratively within the Production and Artistic teams.
Ability to communicate using a phone and headset.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000 Annual
