DESCRIPTION

Arizona Opera is pleased to announce local auditions for chorus positions in the 2025/26 Season. Incumbent and core choristers who auditioned last spring are not required to re-audition this year. Those who did not audition last spring or who were on sabbatical during the 2024/25 season will be expected to audition this year to be considered for chorus positions in the 2025/26 season.

All incumbent/core choristers must audition to be considered for the following roles:

Zorro

  • Luisa (Soprano, Supporting Role)

  • Toypurina (Mezzo, Supporting Role)

  • Zazueta (Bass, Solo Bit Role)

  • Soprano Solo (Soprano, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Alto Solo #1 (Mezzo, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Alto Solo #2 (Mezzo, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Soldier #1 (Tenor, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Soldier #2 (Baritone/Bass, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Waiter (Baritone/Bass, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Juan Pablo (Spoken, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Francisco (Spoken, Chorus Bit Role)

Madama Butterfly

  • The Imperial Commissioner (Bass, Solo Bit Role)

  • The Official Registrar (Bass, Solo Bit Role)

  • Yakuside (Tenor/Baritone, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Cousin (Soprano, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Mother (Mezzo, Chorus Bit Role)

  • Aunt (Mezzo, Chorus Bit Role)

Cenerentola

  • Alidoro (Bass-Baritone, Supporting Role)

 

The auditions will take place:

Phoenix: Friday, May 9, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Tucson: Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Please prepare two selections for this audition. You will be required to sing one aria or art song in Italian. You may be asked to sing a second aria or art song, in any language of your choosing.

Those auditioning will be scheduled for an 8-minute slot. A pianist will be provided, however you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. The deadline to request an audition is 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
