Terrence McNally is the posthumous winner of The Dallas Opera’s 2020 Maria Callas Award. The librettist and playwright, who died in March, received the honor in recognition of his contribution to two landmark events in the company’s history: the 2015 opera Great Scott, with a McNally libretto and music by Jake Heggie; and Heggie and Gene Scheer’s 2010 Moby-Dick, on which McNally served as a consultant.
