OPERA America is pleased to welcome Sophia Bennett as the new editor of Opera America Magazine. Bennett brings over a decade of experience writing for national association and consumer magazines, as well as five years as the editor of various trade magazines. Prior to beginning her writing career, Bennett spent 10 years in the nonprofit field and five years at a professional association for community development professionals (including two years as executive director). She owes her lifelong appreciation for the arts to a father who loved classical music and stints in orchestra, band, and concert choirs as a young person. Bennett is a graduate of Southern Oregon University, where she frequented performances at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and other performing arts venues. She lives in Oregon with her husband and twin daughters.
